Tips for browsing and searching our site.

Jeff Montgomery -

You can search for products on our site in a couple of different ways.

Main Search Bar:

You can search our catalog using our main search bar using whatever key words you choose.

You can also limit your search by choosing key words that exclude a product from showing up in a search - this is done by using a minus sign and then the keyword that you want excluded.  For example searching DTrpg for keyword “ICRPG” bring up the following results: https://www.drivethrurpg.com/browse.php?test_epoch=0&keywords=ICRPG. In this case, the very first product displayed is "ICRPG Worlds".  If you were to modify that search to be “ICRPG -worlds” then that product would no longer shows in your search results.

Browsing Categories / Filters:

We also have filtered browsing options available in the "Browse Categories" section available from the top left column of our homepage. You can choose a category and sub-category which will greatly narrow your search results based on the filters you chose.  You can also use more than one filter at a time to further narrow your search.

For instance, if you are looking for an adventure specifically for low level characters using D&D rules, you could click on Rule System / Dungeons and Dragons and then also click on Non Core Books / Adventures / Low Level.  What remains will be a set of products that should meet your requirements.

You can then use the main search bar to search for key words within that set of products.  So, if you were looking for a forest setting, you could follow the steps above and then use the main search bar to search for keyword forest and you will be shown products with the word forest in the title or product description.

You can remove individual filters by clicking on the trash can next to that category. To start your search anew, just click on our DriveThruRPG logo to return to the homepage with your category selections cleared.
